I Fear I Have Become… A Window Shopper.
I have reached a point within my life where I enjoy to dress well and cruise along the streets of Sydney, exploring the individual retail districts which add a vibrant culture to the CBD. But rarely do I actually purchase something from these stores, I merely arrive to take in the surroundings, absorb the pleasant conditioned air lingering in the shops, admiring the displays, the windows…
Once I was driven to purchase the items I found most attractive, most functional, most desirable, but I fear I am becoming more frugal, more of a window shopper. Browsing rather than purchasing is more empowering because the sales assistant will bend over backwards with sales tricks to persuade me to hand over my savings card. But it is a savings card, and so it shall remain (at least for another 15 years of frugality and saving diligently from week to week!).
Unless the items are strictly necessary for my existence, they will not be purchased. Window shopping has become my excuse to take the time to travel to Sydney, the city I aspire to live. The faster pace of life would be a pleasant change from the slow, relaxed lifestyle of the Central Coast. As great an area as it is, as close I am to public transport, it is not the same.
So within a few years, I would like to live amongst the hustle and bustle, but who knows?
